A straight bar fixes your wrists and shoulders in one rotation, and for a lot of people that is where the shoulder pain on bench press comes from. A Swiss bar gives you angled neutral grips instead, so the press runs on a natural lifting plane. Three positions means three different emphases on the same movement: narrow for triceps, wide for chest, neutral in between. It rows and curls just as well.
